BRIGHSTONE-SHORWELL QUIET CYCLE LANE   ()

Thanks to funding from the West Wight Landscape Partnership, Brighstone CE Primary School has been able to produce a leaflet and map guiding people – families, residents and visitors – to cycle on the quieter lanes between Brighstone and Shorwell, rather than use the busy main road.
Pupils have produced a leaflet, ‘Manors and Mills’, which highlights the various manor houses and mills along or close to the route, along with safer cycling tips developed with the local PCSO, Cat Quinn.
The route follows the quieter lanes which link Brighstone and Shorwell, using country lanes with one optional off-road section for a good weather short-cut.
The leaflet is available to download in various formats:-
* A3 Leaflet including map -see above
* A4 Map
* A4 Mottistone Mill, Brighstone Mill and Waytes Court Manor
* A4 Yafford Mill, Wolverton Manor and Westcourt & Northcourt
The printed leaflet is also available from Brighstone CE Primary School, and local shops and businesses.
This project is part of the school’s work towards the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag award, the top national accolade for schools achieving across a range of environmental measures, which was achieved in April 2011.
